The Holidays are Here! It's that time of year again with the Holidays here and pets out playing in the snow. Cooler temperatures, snow days and time for vacations. This is definitely one of our busiest seasons and we're happy to help anyway we can so feel free to call us and book some visits today! The Christmas Holidays are always an enjoyable time whether you're in town or off away traveling. Keep Your Pet Safe From Winter Hazards. To protect your pet during the cold winter months, the Dumb Friends League recommends the following safety advice: *Keep an eye on the temperature. When it falls below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, it's best to keep your pet indoors. *Keep your pet's coat well groomed. Matted fur won't properly protect your pet from the cold. *Check your garage and driveway for antifreeze. Antifreeze tastes sweet to pets, but most brands are poisonous if consumed. *Regularly check your pet's water to make sure it's not frozen. When your pet is outside, make sure there is plenty of fresh drinking water available. *Use a damp towel to wipe your pet's feet and underside. Ice-melting chemicals can irritate and burn the pads of your pet's feet and can cause serious injury if ingested. *Provide a dry, draft-free doghouse if you must keep your dog outside for any period of time. It should be large enough to allow your dog to sit and lay down comfortably but small enough to hold in its body heat. T *Keep snow from piling high next to your fence. A packed snowdrift will provide a boost for your dog to jump over the fence *Compare the amount of exercise your dog receives during the colder months to warmer months. If your dog is indoors more at this time of year, it's probably getting less exercise and may need less food.

Summer Pet Tips Pools/Lakes: Children are not the only ones who can drown when left unattended in pools or lakes. Never leave your pet attended when they are swimming and always make sure they have an easy way out or the pool is enclosed and inaccessible. Fishing Tackle: Colorful stinky fishing lures are very tempting to cats, dogs and birds and can prove to be very dangerous. Hooks are usually barbed and can not be backed out until the barb is removed. Never try to remove these hooks on your own. Seek veterinary help and sedation to prevent tissue trauma. Car Windows or Pick up Trucks: Dogs love to feel the wind in their faces but uncovered truck beds are a very dangerous place for your pet. Sudden stops or turns can throw your pet from the truck and a major injury could occur from the fall or by being hit by an oncoming car. Additionally, there is a lot of debris and insects moving at high velocities that can be hazardous.

After two frantic weeks some neighbors and I were able to capture the neighborhood stray (3rd one in 3 months) and this one almost got hit a few times. This cute mutt needs a home and was adopted by the Denver Dumb friends league dog picture link the pet is there and they still have yet to post his picture so if interested Call them! This adorable dog is very friendly, young and no health issues. DDFL is not a no kill shelter so time is not on this little guys side! Please frwd to others and help save a life.

Our pets need the best care we can give. Their lives depend on us. Here are some pet care tips you can use with your animal friends.Since dogs are the most common house pet, let us start with them. When it comes to dog pet care you should consider comfort and amusement. Dogs love to play and they love to run. So before you even decide to buy a dog you should take into consideration the place where you and your dog can play. They are a very social animal that’s why if possible you should provide a place for them to have fun with you and your family. Dogs also like comfort, so as the owner you should provide a comfortable space for them to sleep and relax. When it comes to feeding your dog you have two options. One, is you can buy dog foods available in the market. Most dog foods already include all the daily vitamins that the dog will need. Second option is to feed him real food from your home. Dogs as we all know love to chew on chicken bones, but that shouldn’t be the only thing you give them. You can also add chicken meat, vegetables and boiled rice. You should also ask your veterinarian regarding the vitamins or supplements that your dog needs. Just like humans they also have daily requirements of calcium, and other vitamins. Lastly, for dogs and all other animals vaccination is needed. This is to prevent them to be able to protect them from disease. Better to do this while they are still young. Just like humans they can also get sick. Some of the most common sickness among dogs are the following: Vomiting and diarrhea, blood in urine and itching and scratching due to skin infection. These can all be prevented if they are properly given vaccines.Another common house pet are fishes.

Pet care for fishes is very meticulous. Before you even bring home your fish you should be able to prepare the aquarium that the fish will be living in. The water inside the aquarium should be treated. You should put water inside the tank and allow it to settle for a few days then add rocks and you can now run the filter and the air pump. Now that the aquarium is ready you can now put your fish there. Feeding them is another part of pet care. Fish food that can be purchased commercially should be approved by the vet. And you should also carefully read the back label first before you feed it to your fish. Fish shouldn’t be fed just about anything that you think you like. From the podium to the floor to the hallways and beyond, we’ll be bringing you all of the behind the scenes action right here on the DemConvention blog. Make sure you also check out our live HD streaming video to watch the latest speakers and events going on in the Pepsi Center. The Convention opened this morning with a great performance from the Colorado Children’s Chorale. I ran into the whole group of kids as we were passing through security this morning and they were so excited to be performing on stage at the Convention. They let me know how hard they had been practicing -- “so so so much” -- and it was a nice treat for the entire audience. Roaming throughout the arena today, we’ve met enthusiastic delegates and supporters – in some great outfits I might add (make sure to check out the photos.) We’ve heard from DNCC CEO Leah Daughtry, Governor Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, and Jesse Jackson, Jr. just finished addressing the audience. With one hour until the 2008 Democratic National Convention officially kicks off, the Pepsi Center crowd is slowly but steadily growing. One face in the crowd earlier today was Michelle Obama. She stopped by for a walkthrough of the podium, touring the Pepsi Center and taking her first look at the Convention’s incredible stage. Outside the Pepsi Center, people are wandering around the various media pavilions and grabbing lunch from the vendors. Inside, people are getting situated and exploring the seemingly endless hallways. We’ll be giving you a detailed look inside every corner of the Pepsi Center, but for now take a look at the current scene as the Convention nears:

With the 2008 Convention just days away, the final pieces are coming together for this historic event. If so, you should take a few minutes to learn more about Studio ’08 -- the DNCC’s effort to bring the story of this year’s Convention to local media outlets across the county. While over 15,000 members of the media will descend upon Denver in the next few days, not everyone can make the trip out to Colorado. The Democratic National Convention was designated a National Special Security Event on April 23, 2007. When an event is designated a NSSE, the Secret Service assumes its mandated role as the lead agency for the design and implementation of the operational security plan.

If you haven't yet secured lodging for your stay in Denver, hotels in the Denver Tech Center are available, which are connected by light rail to downtown Denver. Rentals can also be obtained through a commercial rental company by doing a web search for Denver short-term housing, and through free websites such as Craigslist. How can I obtain tickets to attend the Democratic National Convention?
Tickets are distributed by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and may be obtained if you are a Member of Congress, a member of the press, or a delegate to the convention. The convention is an invited event and tickets are not for sale to the general public. For more information on becoming a delegate, please contact your state Democratic Party Office. The Democratic Party of Colorado will finalize the delegate selection in early June and information will be posted on their website when it becomes available. How can I volunteer at the convention?
Interest in the convention is overwhelming. More than 21,000 people from all over the country have applied to volunteer; we have a need for about 10,000 volunteers. Because of the large number of applicants, those who applied after March 15, 2008 will be placed on a reserve list. Volunteers will be selected based on their skills, availability and interests and notified in July. Questions can be directed by e-mail to volunteer@denverconvention2008.com or by calling the Host Committee at (303) 534-6200.

Are there any statistics available about convention volunteers?
Yes. Of the nearly 21,000 people who have signed up to be convention volunteers, roughly 13,000 or 62% are from Colorado (8,000 are from the metro Denver area), and 7,800 or 37% are from out of state. Applicants have come from all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. Some countries represented include the United Kingdom, Thailand, Singapore, China and Australia. Seventy-one different languages are spoken including Creole, Yoruba, Farsi, Mongolian and Navajo. Roughly 75% of volunteers are female and 25% are male. The average age of the volunteers is 42 years, with the oldest volunteer born March 14, 1920.

How can I promote my business to convention attendees?
Denver area businesses are encouraged to register in our online Vendor Directory. Delegates, journalists, party members and supporters, elected officials and other visitors will access this directory from across the nation to find goods and services needed for the convention. We also offer a special 2008 Summit Club sponsorship program, in addition to corporate sponsor packages.

Where can I find information on permits and licenses?
Because of the international significance and large-scale nature of the 2008 Democratic National Convention, Denver Mayor John W. Hickenlooper has declared it to be an "Extraordinary Event." As a result, a special process has been established for events, permits and licenses in the downtown area that will take place between August 15-31, 2008. The application process for press credentials and workspace at the 2008 Democratic National Convention is now closed. The deadline for application for workspace was February 1, 2008. After months of planning for two dozen parties to fete the 56 delegations to the Democratic National Convention — and facing financial difficulties — the city's host committee is scrapping those parties and holding one big bash.

The party for the 6,000 delegates and their guests on Aug. 24 will honor Friends of New Orleans, a charity formed to help that city recover from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.The host committee will pay for the party, but is saving money by consolidating the 24 separate parties into one.

After the party, Friends of New Orleans is planning a gathering of its own at Fillmore Auditorium to raise

Never Enough Time in The Day!

-It’s Saturday morning at 10:00, we have two big choices – join our close friends, who we haven’t seen in forever for brunch, or tackle that long list of errands and huge pile of laundry that desperately needs to get done.

What about; Its 7:30pm on a Wednesday night – go to the gym for the first time this week or make it to the dry cleaner in time to pick up the clothes we need for our weekend away…and oh shoot, we’ve been so busy at work that we forgot to make that hotel reservation. Never enough time and always an endless list of life’s details weighing on our minds. These were the dilemmas of our everyday lives. And we knew we weren’t alone.It was on those busy days that we would dream about how great it would be if there was a personal assistant for the ‘everyday’ person.

Wasn’t there someone we could call on when we needed some help? Then we could see our friends for brunch and eat pancakes with ease because everything was being handled. Thinking about it was easy, but who was doing it? We had a vision. We would create the solution. Since that “A-Ha” moment, its become our life’s calling: helping others escape the torment we often felt . Our model has always been grounded in the idea that we wanted to create a choice, free from hassle or complications, for people to live with less stress and more time to do the things they wanted to be doing. These were and continue to be our motivation for Mile High Concierge – a company providing personal assistance on an as-needed basis.

Today, we have 3 1/2 years of various experiences behind us and know that we’ve helped to change many people’s lives for the better. We’re excited to share how we’ve helped our clients lead less stressful lives and gain more enjoyment out of daily living. Although we still often struggle to figure out the balance in our own lives, we plan to share with you what the concierge industry is all about, plus the successes and lessons we’ve encountered on our own journey of building a business.
